JHN Finance CEO Jacob Hollingsworth addresses public confusion surrounding MNsure and Medical Assistance in free January 17 session.
MINNEAPOLIS — As the landscape of state-sponsored healthcare continues to shift, a local finance expert warns that a widespread lack of understanding is leaving many Minnesotans vulnerable. To combat what he describes as a crisis of confusion, Jacob Hollingsworth, CEO of JHN Finance, announced this week that he will host a public education workshop at the Minneapolis Central Library on January 17.
The event, focused on navigating state programs such as MNsure, Medical Assistance, and MinnesotaCare, aims to fill a critical gap in public knowledge.
"There is a lack of understanding of what state programming offers," Hollingsworth stated. "Many people don't know what they don't know about their healthcare, and it’s actually pretty scary."
According to Hollingsworth, a Licensed Life, Health & Accident Insurance Broker and MNsure-Certified Broker, the complexity of the current system has eroded public trust. Residents often struggle to distinguish between various state entities or identify where to turn for reliable answers. The result, he argues, is often paralysis or frustration rather than coverage.
"If we’re not providing that proper direction and proper knowledge, you’re going to have frustration. You’re going to have people not trusting the system," Hollingsworth said. "Providing proper direction is something that really needs to change."
The January 17 workshop is designed not as a sales pitch, but as a navigational tool for residents. The session will cover the fundamentals of the state marketplace, clarifying the distinctions between Medical Assistance and MinnesotaCare, and offering guidance on how to secure a quality health plan.
Hollingsworth emphasizes that health coverage is about more than just medical needs; it is a foundational element of economic stability. "A quality health insurance plan is the first tier to financial success," he noted.
The workshop will be held at the Minneapolis Central Library. It is open to the public, targeting specifically those who feel underserved by current information channels or overwhelmed by the enrollment process.
